Technical Description
The Mori Seiki NZX2000/800STY is a twin-spindle, three-turret CNC turning center with Y-axis turrets, built on the 800 bed for simultaneous multi-turret machining of bar and chuck work. Swing over bed and over cross slide is 800 mm (31.5 in), the distance between spindle noses is up to 1,130 mm, maximum turning diameter is 320 mm (12.6 in) and maximum turning length is 810 mm (31.9 in). Spindle 1 and spindle 2 each have a 73 mm (2.9 in) through-spindle hole, 65 mm (2.5 in) bar capacity and a two-range drive to 5,000 rpm, with spindle 1 rated 25/22 kW (33.3/30 HP) at 30 min/continuous. Three 16-station turrets give 48 tool stations; rotary tools run to 6,000 rpm, or 12,000 rpm as an option, on a 7.5/5.5 kW drive, and each turret indexes in 0.18 s. X-axis travel is 210 mm on each turret and Y-axis travel is 110 mm, with rapid traverse of 30 m/min in X, 20 m/min in Y and 50 m/min in Z; spindle 2 travels 900 mm on its B-axis. The machine stands 2,320 mm (91.3 in) high on a 3,930 x 2,740 mm floor space including the coolant tank, and weighs 9,400 kg (STY2) or 9,500 kg (STY3).
