Technical Description
The DMG MORI SPRINT 65 is a 4-axis horizontal production turning machine (TRIFIX turret series), introduced at EMO 2013, built for high-volume turning of bar and chucked parts using both collet and chuck work-holding. It is available with up to three turrets (TWIN layout) plus an optional B-axis, each turret carrying 12 VDI 30 tool stations (up to 36 total), all drivable, with driven-tool speeds to 12,000 rpm. The main spindle reaches 5,000 rpm with 29.5 hp nominal power and 110.6 ft-lb torque; the synchronized counter spindle reaches 5,000 rpm with 24.1 hp nominal power and 63.4 ft-lb torque, supporting full 6-sided complete machining. Maximum bar diameter is 65 mm (2.6 in), maximum workpiece diameter is 175 mm (6.9 in), and maximum workpiece length is 420 mm (16.5 in). Axis travels are 165 mm (X), 80 mm (Y), and 420 mm (Z). The machine runs on a thermostable, self-rigid machine bed with a vertical bed design for free chip fall, and is offered with either Siemens or FANUC controls under DMG MORI's CELOS interface with a 21.5-inch ERGOline touchscreen. Options include multi-threading, gear skiving/hobbing, polygon turning, a steady rest mounted on the turret, and an automatically-changed counter-spindle centering tip for supporting long, slender workpieces.
