Technical Description

The Doosan Lynx 220A is a compact two-axis CNC turning center from Doosan's Lynx 220 series. The 'A' version carries a 6 in chuck on an A2-5 spindle nose with a 53 mm (2.1 in) through-hole and 45 mm (1.8 in) bar capacity. Swing is 510 mm (20.1 in) over the bed and 290 mm (11.4 in) over the saddle. Maximum turning diameter is 320 mm (12.6 in) and maximum turning length is 322 mm (12.7 in). The spindle turns up to 6,000 rpm on a 15 kW (30-minute) / 11 kW continuous motor. Tooling is a 12-station servo turret with a 210 mm curvic coupling, 39 kN of hydraulic clamp force and 0.11-second station-to-station indexing; it takes 25 mm square OD tools and 40 mm boring bars. Travel is 175 mm on X and 330 mm on Z, with rapid traverse of 30 m/min on X and 36 m/min on Z. The bed uses a heavily ribbed torque-tube design, and each axis is driven by a digital AC servo motor coupled directly to its ball screw. The machine uses the Doosan-Fanuc i series control with a 10.4 in color LCD. It is 2,325 mm long, 1,600 mm wide and 1,655 mm high, and weighs 2,900 kg (6,393 lb). Power supply is 23.7 kVA.
