Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 2100M is a horizontal slant-bed CNC turning center in the 8 in chuck class, with a C-axis main spindle and a 12-station turret for driven (rotary) tools. The belt-driven main spindle has an ASA A2-6 nose, a 120 mm front bearing, a 76 mm (3.0 in) through hole and a 65 mm (2.6 in) bar working diameter. It runs to 4,500 rpm on an 18.5 kW (25 hp) motor, 15 kW continuous, and indexes in 0.001 degree steps. Swing over the bed is 30.7 in; maximum turning diameter is 16.0 in and maximum turning length is 20.5 in. X and Z travels are 10.2 in and 23.2 in, and both axes rapid at 1,181 in/min. The servo-driven turret indexes in 0.15 s and takes 25 mm (1 in) OD tools and 40 mm boring bars; a 24-position turret was optional. Rotary tools run to 5,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW (7 hp) motor. The machine is about 1,863 mm (73.3 in) wide and 1,900 mm (74.8 in) high and weighs 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). The PUMA 2100M is the milling version of the PUMA 2100 series; the MS adds a sub-spindle, the Y and SY add a Y-axis, and the L versions have a longer bed.
