Technical Description
The Doosan PUMA 240MB is the milling version of the PUMA 240 CNC turning center with the B-type spindle. It adds a C-axis on the main spindle and a turret with driven rotary tools, so drilling, tapping and flat milling can be done in the same setup as turning. The B-type main spindle runs to 4,500 rpm, has a 76 mm (2.99 in) spindle bore and 65 mm (2.56 in) bar capacity, and is sized for an 8-inch chuck. The machine is built on the PUMA 240 slant bed with box guideways and a 550 mm (21.65 in) swing over bed, and X-axis travel is 242 mm. It has a single main spindle; the PUMA 240MSB adds a sub-spindle for back-side work and part transfer. The PUMA 240 series was introduced under the Daewoo name and continued by Doosan after it took over the machine tool business in 2005. Controls on these machines are Fanuc i-series units such as the 21i-TB. The PUMA 240MB suits shafts, flanges and bar-fed parts up to 65 mm stock that need secondary milled or drilled features, such as cross holes, flats and bolt circles.
