Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 2600SY II is a horizontal CNC turning center with a Y axis and a sub-spindle, from Doosan's PUMA 2100/2600Y II series. The main spindle is a built-in type with an A2-8 nose, a 91 mm (3.6 in) through-hole and 81 mm (3.2 in) bar capacity; it turns up to 4,000 rpm on a 22 kW (29.5 hp) / 15 kW continuous motor. The sub-spindle has an A2-5 nose and a 62 mm through-hole, and runs to 6,000 rpm on a 15 / 11 kW motor. Both spindles index in 0.001 degree steps for C-axis work. Swing is 780 mm (30.7 in) over the bed and 630 mm over the saddle. Maximum turning diameter is 376 mm (14.8 in) and maximum turning length is 760 mm (29.9 in); the long-bed LSY II extends this to 1,280 mm. Travel is 260 mm on X, 830 mm on Z and plus or minus 52.5 mm on Y, with 30 m/min rapids on X and Z. The turret holds 12 tools (24, 16 or 20 optional), indexes in 0.15 seconds and drives rotary tools to 5,000 rpm on a 7.5 kW motor. Box guideways are used on all axes. The control is the DOOSAN Fanuc i Plus, with Siemens 828D available. The machine is 3,560 mm long, 1,945 mm wide and 2,163 mm high, and weighs 6,550 kg (14,440 lb).
