Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 3100L is a 2-axis horizontal CNC turning center with a 12-inch chuck and the long bed of the PUMA 3100 series. It swings 850 mm (33.5 in) over the bed and 670 mm (26.4 in) over the saddle, with a maximum turning diameter of 525 mm (20.7 in) and a bar capacity of 102 mm (4.0 in). The belt-driven main spindle with gearbox has an A2-11 nose, a 115 mm (4.5 in) through hole and 160 mm front bearings, and runs to 2,800 rpm on a 22 kW (30 hp) motor (18.5 kW continuous) with 1,123 N·m of torque. Travels are 293 mm in X and 1,350 mm in Z, with 30 m/min rapids on both axes. A 10-station turret takes 25 mm OD tools and 50 mm boring bars and indexes in 0.15 s. The tailstock has a 100 mm quill with MT#5 live-center taper. The machine occupies about 4,530 x 2,105 mm with a height of 2,020 mm and weighs 7,350 kg (16,204 lb). The M, Y and S variants of the series add live tooling, a Y axis or a sub-spindle; the L model covered here is the plain 2-axis version with a single spindle.
