Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 3100ULY is the extra-long-bed (UL) Y-axis version of the 12-inch PUMA 3100 slant-bed turning center. It has one main spindle with an A2-11 nose and a 115 mm (4.5 in) through-hole with 102 mm (4.0 in) bar capacity. The maximum turning diameter is 420 mm (16.5 in) and the maximum turning length is 3,125 mm (123 in), with 850 mm (33.5 in) swing over the bed. Travels are 293 mm in X, 3,190 mm in Z and 130 mm (plus or minus 65 mm) in Y; rapids are 30 m/min in X, 26 m/min in Z and 10 m/min in Y. The 12-station turret carries driven tools up to 5,000 rpm for milling, drilling and tapping off-center with the Y-axis, and the main spindle has a 0.001-degree C-axis. A programmable tailstock with a 120 mm quill and MT#5 taper supports long shafts, and a steady rest is available as an option. The machine is about 6,585 mm long, 2,280 mm wide and 2,315 mm high and weighs about 12,300 kg (27,100 lb).
