Technical Description
The DN Solutions (formerly Doosan) PUMA 3100XLY is a horizontal CNC turning center from the PUMA 2100/2600/3100 series, in the extra-long bed (XL) configuration with Y-axis milling. It is built on a one-piece slant bed with box guideways and uses a belt-driven main spindle with an A2-11 spindle nose, a 115 mm (4.53 in) through hole, 102 mm (4.0 in) bar working diameter and a top speed of 2,800 rpm. The main spindle motor is rated 22 kW (29.5 hp) short-term and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) continuous. Standard workholding is a 12-inch chuck. Capacity is a 33.5 in swing over the bed, a maximum turning diameter of 16.54 in and a maximum turning length of 83.66 in. The 12-station servo turret carries live tooling driven up to 5,000 rpm, and the Y-axis provides 130 mm (5.1 in) of travel (plus or minus 65 mm) for off-center milling, drilling and tapping. X-axis travel is 11.5 in and Z-axis travel is 86.2 in, with 1,181 ipm rapids on X and Z. A tailstock with a 120 mm quill is fitted. The machine occupies about 221 x 90 in of floor space, stands 91 in tall and weighs about 23,810 lb. It is a single-spindle machine; the SY/LSY variants add a sub-spindle.
