Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 400LMB is a heavy-duty horizontal CNC turning center from the PUMA 400 series, in the long-bed (L) version with a live-tool BMT turret and C-axis spindle (M). The B designation is the 15-inch chuck spindle with an A2-11 nose. Swing over the bed is 770 mm (30.3 in), with 590 mm (23.2 in) over the saddle. Maximum turning diameter is 560 mm (22.0 in) and maximum turning length is 2,028 mm (79.8 in). Bar working capacity is 117 mm (4.6 in). The main spindle runs to 2,000 rpm with an A2-11 spindle nose and a 132 mm (5.2 in) through hole, driven by a 30 kW (40.2 hp) 30-minute / 22 kW continuous motor. Axis travels are 357 mm (14.1 in) in X and 2,155 mm (84.8 in) in Z, with rapid traverse of 16 m/min in X and 18 m/min in Z. The 12-station BMT 75P turret takes 60 mm boring bars and indexes in 0.25 seconds per station; the C axis indexes in 0.001-degree steps. The tailstock has a 120 mm (4.7 in) quill with an MT#6 taper. Doosan offered the Doosan-Fanuc i series or Fanuc 32i-A control. The machine occupies 5,702 x 2,440 mm (224.5 x 96.1 in) with a height of 2,306 mm (90.8 in) and weighs 11,200 kg (24,691 lb).
