Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 5100LMB is a heavy-duty horizontal CNC turning center from the PUMA 4100/5100 series, in the long-bed (L), live-tool (M), large-bore (B) configuration. It carries a 21-inch chuck on an A1-15 spindle nose with a 181 mm (7.1 in) spindle through hole and 165.5 mm bar capacity. The geared main spindle runs to 1,500 rpm and is driven by a 45 kW (60.3 hp) 30-minute / 37 kW (49.6 hp) continuous motor, producing up to 2,957 N·m of torque. Swing over bed is 900 mm (35.4 in); maximum turning diameter is 650 mm (25.6 in) and maximum turning length on the long bed is 2,001 mm (78.8 in). Z-axis travel is 2,155 mm and X-axis travel is 362 mm. The 12-station turret takes 25 mm square OD tools (32 mm optional) and 60 mm boring bars, and its rotary tools run to 4,000 rpm with a 23 kW peak / 7.5 kW continuous drive; the C-axis indexes in 0.001-degree steps. A programmable tailstock with 2,050 mm travel and an MT#6 quill is fitted. Floor space for the long-bed machine is 5,774 x 2,275 mm, height 2,222 mm, and weight is about 11,800 kg. It is used for large shafts, pipe and oilfield parts where milling and drilling are needed in the same setup.
