Technical Description

The DN Solutions (Doosan) PUMA 5100LYA is a heavy-duty horizontal CNC turning center from the PUMA 4100/5100 series, in the long-bed Y-axis version with a live-tool turret. The A designation is the 15-inch chuck spindle. Swing over the bed is 880 mm (34.6 in), with 817 mm (32.2 in) over the saddle. Maximum turning diameter is 550 mm (21.7 in) and maximum turning length is 2,050 mm (80.7 in). Bar working capacity is 116.5 mm (4.6 in). The main spindle runs to 2,000 rpm with an A2-11 spindle nose and a 132 mm (5.2 in) through hole, driven by a 37 kW (49.6 hp) motor with 2,432 N·m of maximum torque. Axis travels are 355 mm (14.0 in) in X, 150 mm (5.9 in) in Y and 2,100 mm (82.7 in) in Z, with rapid traverse of 20 m/min in X and 18 m/min in Z. The 12-station turret runs rotary tools to 4,000 rpm, and the C axis indexes in 0.001-degree steps. A tailstock with a 120 mm (4.7 in) quill and MT#6 taper supports long work. The machine occupies 5,980 x 2,522 mm (235.4 x 99.3 in) with a height of 2,885 mm (113.6 in) and weighs 13,000 kg (28,660 lb).
