Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA MX3100 is a multi-tasking turning center that combines a lathe with a B-axis milling spindle and automatic tool changer. The base MX3100 has one left spindle with an A2-11 nose, a 12-inch chuck, 115 mm (4.5 in) spindle through-hole and 102 mm (4.0 in) bar capacity. The left spindle runs to 3,000 rpm on a 30 kW (40.2 hp) motor, 25 kW continuous, with 0.001 degree C-axis indexing. The milling spindle reaches 12,000 rpm, rated 22 kW (29.5 hp) for 15 minutes, with 0.001 degree B-axis indexing and CAPTO C6 tooling. A swing-arm tool changer holds 40 tools as standard, with 80 as an option, and changes tools in 2.0 seconds. Swing over bed is 1,000 mm (39.4 in), maximum turning diameter 760 mm (29.9 in) and maximum turning length 1,540 mm (60.6 in). Travels are 630 mm X, 1,585 mm Z and 230 mm Y (plus or minus 115 mm), with 36 m/min rapids on X and Z and 26 m/min on Y. A servo-driven tailstock with MT5 quill is standard on the base machine. The MX3100S version adds a 4,000 rpm right spindle. The machine measures 5,125 mm long, 2,625 mm wide and 3,025 mm high and weighs 14,600 kg (32,187 lb).
