Technical Description

The Doosan (DN Solutions) PUMA SMX2600ST is a multi-tasking mill-turn center with left and right spindles, a B-axis milling spindle with automatic tool changer, and a 12-station lower turret; the series is built with up to nine axes. It takes 10-inch chucks on both spindles and has a maximum turning diameter of 660 mm (26 in) and a maximum turning length of 1,540 mm (60.6 in). Both spindles run to 4,000 rpm on 30 kW (40 hp) motors, with 690 N·m of torque on the left spindle and 724 N·m on the right. The B and C axes are controlled in 0.0001 degree steps, and the spindle and feed axes use cooling and thermal compensation to limit drift on long runs. The tool magazine sits at the front of the machine with its own ATC operation panel, and the swivelling main operation panel is adjustable in height. The machine measures 5,790 mm long, 3,021 mm wide and 2,820 mm high and weighs 18,000 kg (39,683 lb).
