Technical Description
The Doosan PUMA TT1500SY is a compact 6-axis CNC turning center with twin opposed spindles and twin turrets, designed for complete front and back machining of small bar and chucker parts in one setup. The main and sub spindles each run to 6,000 rpm with 20 hp drives on A2-5 spindle noses; the main spindle bore is 2.0 inches (with 2.0-inch bar capacity) and the sub spindle bore is 1.77 inches. Both spindles have full C-axis control for milling and contouring. Upper and lower 12-station turrets, 24 stations in total, carry live tools that run to 5,000 rpm with 5 hp, and the upper turret adds Y-axis travel for off-center work. Turret index time is 1 second. The machine has a 23.6-inch swing over the bed, a maximum turning diameter of 9.05 inches and a maximum turning length of 20.1 inches. Rapid traverse rates are 787 in/min on X, 945 in/min on Z and 295 in/min on Y. Units from this generation were supplied with the FANUC 18i-T control and weigh about 11,500 lb. The two turrets can cut at the same time on either spindle, which suits high-volume production of fittings, valve parts and similar components.
