Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA TT2500SY is a twin-spindle, twin-turret horizontal turning center with live tooling and a Y-axis on the upper turret. The left and right spindles have the same capacity, so both ends of a part can be machined in one cycle, and the two turrets can cut at the same time. Each spindle has an A2-8 nose, a 10-inch chuck and a 3,500 rpm maximum speed. The left spindle motor is rated 26 kW (34.9 hp) for 30 minutes and 22 kW continuous. Spindle through-holes are 91 mm on the left and 86 mm on the right, with 81 mm (3.2 in) bar capacity. Maximum turning diameter is 390 mm (15.4 in) on the upper turret and 300 mm on the lower, with a 350 mm (13.8 in) maximum turning length and 800 mm (31.5 in) swing over bed. The upper and lower turrets each hold 12 BMT65P tools, 24 in total, with 5,000 rpm rotary tools and 0.2-second indexing. The Y-axis travel is 120 mm (plus or minus 60 mm). Rapid traverse is 20 m/min on X and 24 m/min on Z. The standard control is DOOSAN Fanuc i Plus, with Fanuc 31i as an option. The machine occupies 4,050 x 2,210 mm of floor space, stands 2,480 mm tall and weighs 12,700 kg net.
