Technical Description
The European LION 20-MT-3 is a heavy-duty manual engine lathe engineered for precision machining operations requiring exceptional rigidity and accuracy. This 20" x 120" model features a robust clutched headstock with hardened and ground gears, capable of swinging 20 inches over the bed and accommodating workpieces up to 120 inches between centers. The lathe is equipped with a 3.2-inch spindle bore featuring a D1-8 camlock spindle nose and precision SKF spindle bearings for reliable performance. With 16 selectable spindle speeds ranging from 11 to 2,000 RPM, the machine provides versatility for diverse machining applications. The 10-horsepower motor delivers consistent power for both roughing and finishing operations. The lathe offers 72 distinct threading options and 72 feed rates, including inch threading capabilities from 120 to 1/4 TPI and metric threading from 0.25 to 120, eliminating the need for gear changes. The cross-slide traverse reaches 12 inches maximum, while the removable gap bed allows machining of larger diameter workpieces up to 27 inches in the gap. The precision-ground bedways measure 15.75 inches wide and provide the foundation for dimensional accuracy. Additional features include a 2-speed tailstock with tag-along capability, 4-way rapid traverse via single-lever control, and comprehensive accessory packages including taper turning attachment, steady rest, and follow rest. This machine represents an ideal solution for job shops and production environments demanding reliable performance and dimensional precision.
