Technical Description

The Haas ST-30SSY is a Super-Speed, Y-axis version of the Haas ST-30 slant-bed turning center, built by Haas Automation in Oxnard, California. It carries a belt-driven 30 hp (22.4 kW) vector-drive spindle rated to 4,500 rpm, with an A2-6 spindle nose, a 3.5 in. spindle bore and 3.0 in. bar capacity, and a 10 in. hydraulic chuck as standard. Maximum cutting capacity is 16 in. diameter by 23 in. length, with 31.75 in. of swing over the front apron. Y-axis travel of plus or minus 2.0 in. from centerline, combined with high-torque 6,000 rpm live tooling and a C axis, allows off-center milling, drilling and tapping in one setup. Tooling is held on a 24-station hybrid turret with 12 VDI 40 and 12 bolt-on stations. X-axis travel is 12.5 in. and Z-axis travel is 23 in.; Z rapids reach 1,200 ipm. Standard equipment includes rigid tapping, spindle orientation, a 55-gallon coolant tank, a 15 in. color LCD and USB port on the Haas CNC control. The machine is a single-spindle turning center; Haas dual-spindle models carry the DS designation.
