Technical Description
The KAAST C-Turn 230/1500 is a precision manual engine lathe engineered for versatile machining applications. This 18x60" lathe features hardened, precision-ground guideways that minimize vibration and tool chattering during heavy-duty operations, delivering exceptionally low noise levels. The bed ways are high-frequency heat-treated to maintain accuracy and reliability. With a swing over bed of 17.9 inches and a distance between centers of 58.5 inches, the machine accommodates a broad range of workpiece sizes while maintaining tight tolerances. The spindle bore diameter of 2.1 inches accepts standard tooling, paired with a D1-6 chuck mount configuration. Powered by a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) main spindle motor, the lathe delivers speeds up to 2,800 RPM in 12 steps, with an optional inverter providing continuous variable speeds from 33-3,100 RPM for optimized surface speeds. The universal gearbox enables cutting metric, Whitworth, module, and diametral threads with precision down to the finest measurements. Standard features include a 3-axis digital readout for dimensional accuracy, a 4-post toolholder, footbrake, chuck guard, backsplash guard, work light, and integrated coolant system. The carriage swing capacity of 11.2 inches and toolholder travel of 4.75 inches provide flexibility for complex turning, facing, and threading operations. Weighing 4,400 pounds, this robust machine combines precision engineering with operational control, making it suitable for tool and die shops, maintenance departments, and small to medium production environments requiring dependable manual machining capability.
