Technical Description
The KAAST D-Turn HD480/8000 is a heavy-duty manual lathe engineered for large-scale precision machining operations. Featuring a 43.5-inch swing capacity and 312-inch center-to-center distance, this machine accommodates exceptionally long workpieces and extra-large components weighing up to several tons. The 5.9-inch spindle bore provides substantial flexibility for various chuck and tool configurations, with optional bore sizes available up to 16 inches for specialized applications.
Powered by a 30 HP motor delivering up to 420 RPM, the D-Turn HD480/8000 balances torque and speed for optimal heavy cutting performance. The machine bed features rigid FC-30 cast construction with strong ribbing designed to minimize vibrations during intensive machining operations. Both X and Z axes are coated with Turcite B to reduce friction and extend machine life, while transmission gears and shafts are manufactured from hardened, ground high-alloy steel and operate in an oil bath for durability.
Standard equipment includes a three-axis digital readout (DRO) system, rapid traverse capability on X and Y axes, automatic lubrication, coolant system, and integrated work lighting. The tailstock features dual feed speeds for precise workholding and positioning. The 33,880-pound weight distributes across the precision-ground guideways to ensure stable, accurate machining across extended production runs. Optional configurations include larger spindle bores, hydraulic copying attachments, and grinding attachments, making this lathe adaptable to diverse manufacturing requirements.
