Technical Description

The KNUTH DL S 515/5000 is a heavy-duty horizontal machining center engineered for high-capacity turning operations. It features a robust, extra-wide machine bed with heavy ribbing and a one-piece mono-block construction, ensuring exceptional stability and long-term accuracy even under heavy loads. The massive headstock houses a high-precision main spindle with a 100 mm (4") bore, mounted on tapered roller bearings, and supports a maximum turning diameter of 39" (990 mm) over the bed and 28" (720 mm) over the support. The maximum workpiece length is 197" (5000 mm), making it suitable for large and heavy components, with a maximum workpiece weight capacity of 4000 kg (8800 lbs). The spindle speed ranges from 5 to 630 rpm, powered by a 24.8 HP (18.5 kW) motor, providing high torque and efficient chip removal for demanding machining tasks. The spindle mount is A2-11, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of tooling. The Z-axis travel is 10" (250 mm), allowing for precise positioning and support.
