Technical Description
The Mazak MULTIPLEX 6200-II is a twin-spindle, twin-turret CNC turning center built for mid-sized batch production. Its two turning spindles have equal performance: each carries an 8 in chuck, runs to 5,000 rpm and is rated 20 hp (15 kW) at 30 minutes. Both spindles can cut parts at the same time, or the machine can transfer a part automatically from one spindle to the other so the front and back are finished in one cycle. Synchronized rotation of the two spindles supports long shaft work held at both ends. Maximum swing and maximum machining diameter are both 12.6 in (320 mm), maximum machining length is 7.09 in (180 mm) and bar work capacity is 2.0 in (51 mm). Each of the two turrets holds 12 tools, 24 in total, and rotary tools run to 4,500 rpm on a 5 hp (4 kW) drive at the 10-minute rating, so milling can be done on both sides of the part. Axis travels are 9.06 in X and X2, 17.32 in Z and 19.49 in Z2. A Tool Eye system registers tool positions to the CNC automatically. Bar feeders and gantry robots can be added for automated production.
