Technical Description

The Mazak Quick Turn 8 (QT8) is a compact two-axis slant-bed CNC turning center built by Yamazaki Mazak for small chucking and short bar work. It belongs to the original Quick Turn family that Mazak produced from the 1980s through the 1990s, and this machine size was also sold as the Quick Turn 8N. The machine carries a single spindle and an 8-station turret, with X and Z axes driven by AC servomotors through ball screws. Maximum turning diameter is 6.3 in and maximum turning length is 11.22 in, which suits the machine to small shafts, bushings, fittings and other short turned parts. Machines of this series were supplied with conversational Mazatrol CNC controls; the control generation, spindle bore, spindle speed and motor rating vary with the build year and version, so they should be confirmed on the individual machine. A tailstock, bar feeder interface, tool eye and chip conveyor were common options on these machines.
