Technical Description

The Mazak QUICK TURN NEXUS 100-II M is a compact CNC turning center with rotary tooling and C-axis from the second-generation QUICK TURN NEXUS series. It carries a 6 in chuck on an A2-5 spindle nose, with a 61 mm (2.40 in) spindle bore and a 51 mm (2.0 in) bar work capacity. The integral main spindle motor is rated 11 kW (15 hp) for 30 minutes and 7.5 kW (10 hp) continuous, with a stepless range up to 6,000 rpm. Maximum swing is 550 mm (21.65 in), maximum machining diameter is 280 mm (11.02 in) and maximum machining length is 334 mm (13.15 in). A 12-position VDI-type drum turret holds 12 tools, any of which can be a rotary tool; the rotary tool spindle runs to 4,500 rpm on a 5.5 kW (7.5 hp) motor and handles 16 mm drills and end mills and M16 taps. C-axis rapid rate is 555 rpm. Travels are 185 mm in X and 385 mm in Z, with rapid traverse of 30 m/min in X and 33 m/min in Z. A 350 mm stroke tailstock with an MT4 dead center is standard. The machine needs 17.5 kVA, occupies 2,090 x 1,630 mm of floor space at 1,800 mm high, and weighs 3,800 kg (8,377 lb).
