Technical Description

The Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 250-II MY (QTN250MY) is a slant-bed CNC turning center with rotary milling tools and a Y-axis, from Yamazaki Mazak's Quick Turn Nexus II series. The single main spindle carries a 10 in chuck on an A2-8 nose with a 3 in bar capacity, runs to 4,000 rpm and is driven by an integral motor rated 35 hp (26 kW, 30-minute rating). A 12-station drum turret accepts rotary tools in every position; the rotary tool spindle runs to 4,500 rpm as standard with a 6,000 rpm option. The Y-axis and C-axis contouring allow milling, drilling and tapping of flats, cross holes and off-center features in one setup. Maximum swing is 26.5 in. On the standard 500U bed the maximum machining length is 19.86 in; a longer bed was also offered. Machines were supplied with Mazatrol Matrix Nexus or Matrix Nexus 2 conversational CNC controls depending on build year. Common equipment includes a programmable tailstock, tool eye, high-pressure through coolant and a chip conveyor.
