Technical Description
The Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 250MY (QTN250MY) is a slant-bed CNC turning center with rotary milling tools and a Y-axis, from Yamazaki Mazak's Quick Turn Nexus series and its 250-II update. The 20 in designation refers to the standard (500U) bed, which gives a maximum machining length of 19.86 in. The single main spindle carries a 10 in chuck on an A2-8 nose with a 3 in bar capacity, runs to 4,000 rpm and is driven by an integral motor rated 35 hp (26 kW, 30-minute rating). A 12-station drum turret accepts rotary tools in every position; the milling spindle is rated 7.5 hp and 4,500 rpm as standard, with a 6,000 rpm option. The Y-axis and full C-axis contouring allows milling, drilling and tapping of flats, cross holes and off-center features in one setup. Maximum swing is 26.5 in. Machines were supplied with Mazatrol Matrix Nexus or Matrix Nexus 2 conversational CNC controls depending on build year. Standard and common equipment includes a CNC programmable tailstock, automatic tool eye, through-hole chuck package and chip conveyor.
