Technical Description

The Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 450 is a large two-axis CNC turning center built by Yamazaki Mazak for heavy shaft and chuck work. This listing covers the version with an 80 in bed, sold by Mazak as the 2000U bed length. The machine has a slant-bed design with a single A2-15 main spindle driven by a 50 hp motor, with a maximum spindle speed of 2,000 rpm for large-diameter parts. The maximum machining diameter is 22.8 in, with a swing over the bed of 33.1 in. Tooling is carried on a 12-position drum turret, and the machine uses a programmable tailstock to support long workpieces over the full bed length. The Quick Turn Nexus line runs on the Mazatrol Matrix conversational CNC control, which also accepts EIA/ISO G-code programming. Typical uses include oilfield tubulars, large flanges, rolls, hydraulic cylinder components and other long, heavy parts that need a large chuck and high spindle torque. The big-bore spindle allows pipe and tube to pass through the headstock. Spindle bore, chuck size and exact turning length vary by version (QTN 450 or 450-II) and should be confirmed on the individual machine.
