Technical Description

The Megabore PC-70 Manual Lathe is a heavy-duty engine lathe designed for demanding turning applications, featuring a robust one-piece bed construction with a floor-type casting for exceptional rigidity and stability. With a 70.2-inch swing over the bed and a 53.0-inch swing over the cross slide, this machine accommodates large workpieces, making it ideal for heavy industrial environments. The distance between centers is 236.3 inches, allowing for extended turning operations on long shafts and components. The lathe is equipped with a 21.0-inch hollow spindle, enabling the processing of large-diameter bar stock and facilitating through-hole machining. Powered by a 40.0 HP dual-voltage spindle motor, the PC-70 delivers strong, reliable performance for a wide range of materials and cutting conditions. The machine features a 2-shear bed way design with an extra supporting way for the apron, ensuring smooth and precise carriage movement. All bed ways are hardened and ground for durability and accuracy. The PC-70 includes a 6-way rapid traverse and power feed to the top slide, a totally enclosed universal inch/metric gearbox, and a pressurized one-shot lubrication system for the cross slide and carriage, enhancing both operational efficiency and machine longevity. Additional features include a carriage position device and a compound tool post with 600 mm travel. The lathe is configurable to meet specific customer requirements and is suitable for a variety of industrial applications, including oil and gas, power generation, and heavy fabrication.
