Technical Description
The Mori Seiki NL1500Y is a slant-bed CNC turning center from the NL Series, which Mori Seiki introduced in 2004. The Y version adds a Y-axis with 100 mm (plus or minus 50 mm) of travel to the milling turret and C-axis of the NL1500MC, so off-center drilling, milling and grooving can be done without polar interpolation. This row is the 500 mm distance-between-centers machine. It swings 923.8 mm (36.4 in) over the bed and takes a maximum turning length of 515 mm (20.2 in). Bar capacity is 52 mm (2.0 in). The spindle has a JIS A2-5 nose and a 61 mm (2.4 in) through-hole, and runs to 6,000 rpm. Its drive motor is rated 11 kW (15 hp) at 50% ED, 7.5 kW (10 hp) continuous, and a 6-inch chuck is standard. The turret holds 12 tools as standard, with 16- and 20-station turrets offered as options. Rotary tools run to 6,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW motor. Rapid traverse is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on X and Z and 10 m/min on Y, with 260 mm of X travel and 590 mm of Z travel. The tailstock takes an MT4 live center. The machine occupies 2,705 x 1,922 mm of floor space, stands 2,120 mm tall and weighs 5,600 kg (12,346 lb).
