Technical Description
The Mori Seiki NL2000SY is a slant-bed CNC turning center from the NL Series, which Mori Seiki introduced in 2004. The SY version combines a Y-axis milling turret with a second, opposed spindle on a B-axis slide, so both ends of a part can be turned, drilled and milled in one cycle. This row is the 500 mm distance-between-centers machine. It swings 923.8 mm (36.4 in) over the bed and takes a maximum turning length of 510 mm (20.0 in). Bar capacity is 65 mm (2.5 in). The main spindle has a JIS A2-6 nose and a 73 mm (2.9 in) through-hole, and runs to 5,000 rpm on a 15 kW (20 hp) motor at 50% ED, 11 kW (15 hp) continuous, with an 8-inch chuck as standard. The second spindle has an A2-5 nose and a 43 mm (1.7 in) through-hole, runs to 6,000 rpm on an 11 kW motor and carries a 6-inch chuck. Headstock 2 travels 624 mm. The turret holds 12 tools as standard, with 10-, 16- and 20-station turrets offered as options. The Y-axis travels 100 mm (plus or minus 50 mm), and rotary tools run to 6,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW motor. The machine occupies 2,705 x 2,000 mm of floor space, stands 2,120 mm tall and weighs 5,800 kg (12,787 lb).
