Technical Description
The Mori Seiki (DMG Mori) NLX 2000MC is a 2-axis universal CNC turning center from the NLX series, built on a slant-bed design with box-way slideways on the X, Y and Z axes for vibration damping and dynamic rigidity. Maximum workpiece turning diameter is 14.4 in (366 mm) and maximum workpiece length is 20.1 in (510 mm), with a maximum bar capacity of 2.6 in (65 mm). Axis travels are 10.2 in (260 mm) on X, 3.9 in (100 mm) on Y, and 23.2 in (590 mm) on Z. The turret is a built-in-motor (BMT) design carrying live tooling, with a high-speed rotary tool spindle rated to 10,000 rpm and a maximum rotary tool torque of 21.4 ft-lbf for milling, drilling and tapping operations performed directly on the turned part. The machine runs on a Mitsubishi MAPPS control platform. Standard construction features coolant circulation through the machine body for thermal stability, with a high-precision quick-change turret available as an option. The NLX 2000 platform has been in continuous production since the mid-2000s with this capacity envelope, and is used as a single-spindle, Y-axis-equipped turning center for small to mid-size precision parts requiring combined turning and light milling in one setup.
