Technical Description

The Mori Seiki NLX2500Y is a CNC turning center from the NLX Series with a Y-axis turret and a single spindle. The spindle has a JIS A2-8 nose, a 91 mm (3.58 in) through-spindle hole and 80 mm (3.1 in) bar work capacity, and takes a 10-inch chuck. It runs to 4,000 rpm on an 18.5/15 kW (24.7/20 hp) motor; a 26/22 kW high-output motor and a 111 mm big-bore spindle were options. The machine swings 920 mm (36.2 in) over the bed and turns up to 366 mm (14.4 in) diameter. The NLX2500 was offered with a /700 bed (705 mm turning length) or a /1250 bed. All axes run on slideways. On the /700 machine X-axis travel is 260 mm, Z-axis travel is 795 mm and Y-axis travel is plus or minus 50 mm, with 30 m/min rapid traverse on X and Z. The Built-in Motor Turret (BMT) drives rotary tools up to 10,000 rpm, and coolant circulating through the castings controls thermal displacement. Turret options included 10, 12, 16 and 20 stations.
