Technical Description

The Nakamura-Tome WT-300 is a two-spindle, two-turret multitasking turning center with box-way slides on all axes. Left and right spindles face each other, with a spindle-to-spindle distance of 250 to 1,100 mm, and upper and lower turrets can cut simultaneously on either spindle. In the standard 65 mm bar specification both spindles take 65 mm bar and 8 in chucks and run to 4,500 rpm on 15/11 kW motors; 18.5/15 kW motors are optional, and the left spindle can take a 22/18.5 kW motor. Synchronized spindles give up to 30 kW of cutting power for shaft work. Larger left-spindle bar options of 71, 80 and 102 mm are available, with lower spindle speeds, and a 102 mm right spindle can be specified. Maximum turning diameter is 270 mm (10.63 in) on both turrets in the standard specification, and maximum turning length is 780 mm (30.71 in). Milling tools are driven by a 5.5/3.7 kW motor. With multi-tool holders and mid-position turret indexing the machine can carry up to 48 tools. The standard machine is 2,276 mm (89.61 in) high, 4,230 mm wide and 2,487 mm deep. The machine runs Nakamura-Tome's NT SmartX control software.
