Technical Description

The Nakamura-Tome WT-300 is a twin-spindle, twin-turret CNC turning center for complete machining of parts up to 12.2 in swing, 10.6 in turning diameter and 30.7 in length in a single setup. Both the main and sub-spindle carry a 3.1 in spindle bore, 2.67 in bar capacity, an A2-6 spindle nose, and a speed range of 50-4,500 rpm; the main spindle is driven by a 25 hp vector motor and the sub-spindle by a 7.5 hp vector motor, each with 0.001-degree C-axis resolution. Each of the two turrets carries 12 tool positions (24 total), and the upper turret has 2.36 in of Y-axis travel with 5 hp, 5,000 rpm live tooling for milling and cross-drilling without refixturing. The sub-spindle's B-axis slide travels 33.46 in. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 166 in long by 100 in wide by 89 in tall, with a machine weight of approximately 28,000 lb. The WT-300 platform is built in multiple configurations denoted by model suffix (for example MMY, MMYS), which add milling and Y-axis capability to this base twin-spindle, twin-turret arrangement.
