Technical Description

The Nakamura-Tome WT-300MMY is a two-spindle, two-turret multitasking turning center. Opposed left and right spindles work with upper and lower milling turrets, so simultaneous cutting on both spindles balances processes and shortens cycle times. The upper turret has a Y axis, and both turrets carry driven tools for milling and drilling with C-axis spindle control. All axes use box-way slides that are hardened, ground and hand scraped, on a wide, low-center-of-gravity bed. In standard form each spindle is rated 15/11 kW (20 hp) with a top speed of 4,500 rpm and 65 mm (2.6 in) bar capacity, and larger bar and motor options were offered. Maximum turning diameter is 10.6 in and maximum turning length is 30.7 in, with 9.8 in to 43.3 in between spindles. The standard chuck is 8 in. Each turret has 24 stations with 12 driven-tool positions, so up to 48 tools can stay loaded. Rapid traverse is 630 ipm on X and 1,063 ipm on Z. The machine suits complex shafts, crankshafts and chucked parts that need turning and milling in one cycle.
