Technical Description

The Okuma LB4000 EX is a 2-axis slant-bed CNC turning center from Okuma's LB EX (Space Turn) series, built by Okuma Corporation of Japan. The machine uses Okuma's Thermo-Friendly Concept to limit thermal growth and a box-way slant bed for rigidity. It was offered in several bed lengths and with options including live tooling (M), Y-axis (Y) and sub-spindle (W) configurations, and was paired with Okuma's own OSP series control. This row does not state the bed length, spindle option or configuration, so capacity, spindle and footprint figures are not given here; the LB4000 EX was succeeded by the LB4000 EX II, and later by the LB4000 EX III introduced at IMTS 2024. Like the rest of the LB EX line, the LB4000 EX pairs a heavy cast slant bed with Okuma's own spindle motors, servo drives and control, so the builder supports the complete machine. The LB4000 EX serves heavy chucking and shaft turning in production and job shops, and it is the largest-capacity model in the LB EX 2-axis family.
