Technical Description

The Okuma LB4000 EX II is a one-saddle, slant-bed CNC lathe from the SPACE TURN LB EX II series, built on Okuma's Thermo-Friendly Concept with a box-construction bed. Swing over bed is 670 mm (26.38 in) and swing over saddle is 480 mm (18.90 in). Three bed lengths give distances between centers of 770, 1,520 or 2,170 mm and maximum work lengths of 750, 1,500 or 2,150 mm. The standard spindle has a JIS A2-8 nose, a 91 mm (3.58 in) bore, a 42 to 4,200 min-1 speed range and a 30/22 kW (30 min/cont) motor. A Big-Bore spindle (JIS A2-11, 112 mm bore, 30 to 3,000 min-1, 37/30 kW) and a Super Big-Bore spindle (JIS A2-15, 185 mm bore, 12 to 1,400 min-1) are offered. X-axis travel is 300 mm, with rapid traverses of 25 m/min on X and 30 m/min on Z. The L model carries a 12-station V12 NC turret. M and MY models carry a 12-station M-V12 radial turret with a 6,000 min-1, 7.5/4.3 kW milling spindle and a C-axis, and the MY model adds 140 mm (plus or minus 70 mm) of Y-axis travel. Maximum turning diameter is 480 mm on the L model and 430 mm on M and MY models. The tailstock takes an MT No. 5 center. Machine mass runs from 6,000 kg to 12,000 kg depending on model and bed length.
