Technical Description

The Southwestern Industries TRAK TRL1630SX is a 2-axis CNC lathe built in 2016 equipped with a ProtoTRAK SLX CNC control. Designed for manual or CNC operation, it features a 16-inch swing over the bed and saddle wings, an 8.6-inch swing over the cross slide, and 30 inches of distance between centers. The machine incorporates a 10-inch 6-jaw chuck, a 2.12-inch spindle through hole, a D1-6 Camlock spindle nose, and an MT #6 spindle taper. Powered by a 7.5 HP inverter-duty spindle motor, it offers programmable spindle speeds ranging from 150 to 2,500 RPM alongside dynamic spindle braking and oil bath headstock lubrication. Axis movements feature cross slide travel of 9.6 inches and maximum rapid feed rates of 100 IPM on the X-axis and 150 IPM on the Z-axis, driven by brushless servo motors, electronic handwheels, and a jogstick. The tailstock features an MT #4 taper, a 2.36-inch quill diameter, and 5 inches of quill travel. Additional equipment includes a 4-way quick-change tool post with a 3/4-inch maximum tool section and a collet closure attachment. Built on hardened and ground bedways with Turcite-coated sliding surfaces, dovetails on the cross slide, V-ways on the saddle, and adjustable saddle gibs, the machine has net dimensions of 79 x 38 x 54 inches and a net weight of 2,200 lbs. Electrical requirements are 220V, 3-phase, 60 Hz for the machine and 110V, 1-phase, 8 Amp for the control.
