A+Technical Description
The UNION CHEMNITZ PR 260 Horizontal Boring Mill is a robust, floor- plate type machine designed for precision machining of large and heavy workpieces, capable of accommodating items up to 40 meters in length, 10 meters in height, and 250 tons in weight. It features a substantial 10.31-inch (260 mm) spindle, driven by a powerful 172.37 HP (128 kW) motor that delivers a maximum torque of 19,000 Nm. The spindle speed is stepless, reaching up to 6,000 min⁻¹. Machine traverses include an impressive X-axis (Table cross traverse) up to 6,000 mm (157.48 inches, potentially up to 40,000 mm for XXL versions), Y-axis (Head stock vertical traverse) up to 4,000 mm (118.11 inches, potentially up to 10,000 mm for XXL versions), and a Z-axis (Table longitudinal traverse) up to 3,500 mm. The boring spindle axial traverse (W) ranges from 1,000 mm to 1,500 mm. Control is managed via CNC. The machine design emphasizes stability through strongly ribbed cast iron beds and features like vibration damping, water-cooled AC motors, and optional hydrostatic guidance on the spindle and RAM axes, ensuring high precision even under high loads. Integrated tool changing is available as an option.
