Technical Description
The U.S. Industrial USL1660CX is a precision 16" x 60" manual geared head engine lathe designed for heavy-duty machining applications. It features a robust 16.53-inch swing over the bed and a large spindle bore of 3.15 inches (80mm), allowing it to accommodate sizable workpieces with diameters up to 16 inches and lengths up to 60 inches between centers. The lathe is equipped with a powerful 10 HP (7.5 kW) motor, compatible with 220V or 440V three-phase power, and offers 15 variable spindle speeds ranging from 24 to 1600 RPM, enabling precision control for various machining tasks.
The machine’s bed design is a gap-bed style, providing a 10.23-inch removable gap for machining large-diameter workpieces, complemented by a 21.65-inch swing over the gap. Its precision-ground longitudinal and cross ways, along with wide, accurately cut gears, ensure smooth and accurate feed movements, supported by 66 longitudinal and cross feeds with fine increments. It can cut a wide range of thread types, including 66 metric, 66 inch, 33 module, and 33 diametral pitch threads.
Standard features include an installed Sino 2-axis digital readout (inch/metric), a taper attachment, a 10” 3-jaw universal self-centering chuck, a 12” 4-jaw independent chuck, steady and follow rests, a 4-way toolpost, a micrometer carriage stop, thread dial, work lamp, and a flood coolant system. Safety and convenience are enhanced by a foot brake with microswitch, a safety chuck shield, a full-length backsplash, and a slide-out chip pan. The tailstock has a No. 5 Morse taper with 4.72-inch spindle travel, supporting precise drilling and reaming operations. Overall, the USL1660CX is engineered for versatility, precision, and durability in professional workshop environments.
