Technical Description

The VICTOR S2680S manual lathe is a high-precision, heavy-duty engine lathe engineered for demanding turning applications. With a 26.0-inch swing over the bed and 18.1 inches over the cross slide, it offers ample clearance for large workpieces, while the 79.9-inch distance between centers supports extended part machining. The lathe features a robust 4.13-inch spindle bore and a D1-11 spindle nose, enabling the handling of sizable bar stock and facilitating secure workholding. Powered by a 15.0 HP main motor, the S2680S delivers consistent performance and torque for efficient material removal across a wide range of metals. Spindle speeds are adjustable from 15 to 1,200 RPM, allowing for optimal cutting conditions for various materials and operations. The headstock incorporates hardened and precision-ground chromium molybdenum steel gears for durability and smooth power transmission, while the bed is constructed from Meehanite casting with hardened and ground ways for long-term accuracy and wear resistance. Turcite B-coated slideways between the saddle and bed ensure smooth movement and reduced friction. The cross slide is induction hardened to HRC 52° and precision ground for enhanced rigidity and longevity. Additional features include a mechanical overload device on the carriage, a dual-speed tailstock quill for versatile drilling, and a universal inch/metric gearbox. Standard accessories include a removable gap, tailstock with dual-speed quill, coolant system, chuck cover with limit switch, thread change gears, threading dial indicator, center sleeve, dead center M.T. #5, and leveling screws. The S2680S is designed for reliability, precision, and ease of operation in heavy industrial environments.
