A+Technical Description
The 2021 Willemin-Macodel W408MT is a multi-tasking 5-axis mill-turn center manufactured in Switzerland, designed for complete machining of small complex components requiring both turning and milling operations in a single clamping. The W408MT combines a high-speed milling spindle reaching 30,000 RPM at 13.4 HP continuous with an integrated A-axis turning spindle reaching 6,000 RPM at 4.96 HP, enabling complete turn-mill operations on parts up to 36 mm (1.42 inches) in bar diameter. The machine provides 9.84 inches of X-axis travel, 7.87 inches of Y-axis travel, and 11.81 inches of Z-axis travel. The B-axis milling head swivels from minus 15 to plus 100 degrees and the A-axis turning spindle rotates continuously, providing 6-axis simultaneous machining capability in the standard configuration, extendable to 7 or 8 axes with optional back-working unit. Fanuc 31i-B5 CNC control manages simultaneous 5-axis interpolation with the turning function for complex multi-axis part programs. At approximately 3,748 pounds with an overall footprint of approximately 72 by 97 by 96 inches, the W408MT is a compact machine suited to medical device, dental implant, aerospace fastener, and precision instrument manufacturers who require complete machining of complex turned and milled components in minimum floor space and cycle time.
