Technical Description
The ACRA 1640 GNX Manual Lathe is a high-precision gap bed engine lathe engineered for demanding metalworking applications. Featuring a robust one-piece cast iron base, the lathe delivers exceptional rigidity and stability for accurate, vibration-free operation. The bed ways and headstock gears are hardened and ground, ensuring long-term durability and smooth performance. The lathe provides a 16-inch swing over the bed and a 40-inch distance between centers, making it suitable for a wide range of turning tasks. The spindle is supported by three bearings for smooth high-speed turning, with 12 speed steps ranging from 42 to 1,800 RPM. The spindle nose is D1-8, with a 3 1/8-inch bore and MT No.5 taper, accommodating a variety of workholding options. The gap bed design allows for increased swing capacity, enhancing versatility for larger workpieces. The lathe is equipped with a powerful 7.5 HP spindle motor, ensuring efficient cutting power. The apron and slideways are lubricated via a one-shot lubricator for consistent maintenance. The cross slide offers 8 inches of travel, while the compound slide provides 4 inches. The lathe supports a broad range of threading options, including 65 kinds of inch threads (1 5/8 to 72 TPI), 28 kinds of metric threads (0.5 to 20 mm), 24 kinds of module threads (0.25 to 10), and 45 kinds of diametrical pitch threads (3.25 to 96). Longitudinal feed ranges from 0.0015 to 0.0913 inches per revolution, and cross feed ranges from 0.0006 to 0.0365 inches per revolution. The tailstock features a 3-inch quill diameter, 5-inch travel, and MT No.4 taper. The lathe weighs 4,187 lbs, reflecting its heavy-duty construction and suitability for industrial environments.
