The ACRA 1640GCY Manual Lathe is a high-precision gap bed engine lathe engineered for demanding turning applications. Featuring a robust one-piece cast iron base, this lathe delivers exceptional rigidity and stability, minimizing vibration for accurate machining. The bed ways and headstock gears are hardened and ground, ensuring long-term durability and smooth operation. The spindle is supported by three bearings, enabling smooth high-speed turning, with a speed range of 33 to 2,000 RPM across 16 steps. Powered by a 7.5 HP spindle motor, the lathe provides ample torque for efficient cutting across a wide range of materials. The Camlock D1-6 spindle includes a 2-1/32" bore, accommodating various workholding options. The lathe is equipped with a one-shot lubrication system for the apron and slideways, simplifying maintenance and extending component life. Standard equipment includes an 8" 3-jaw chuck, 10" 4-jaw chuck, steady rest, follow rest, coolant system, halogen work light, 4-way tool post, full-length splash guard, chuck guard, tool box, and dead centers. The gap bed design allows for increased swing capacity, with a swing over bed of 16" and a swing in gap of 22-13/8". The lathe supports both inch and metric threading, with ranges of 4–56 TPI and 0.5–7 mm, respectively. Longitudinal and cross feeds are adjustable for precise control. The machine measures 83 inches in length, 41 inches in width, and 56 inches in height, and weighs 3,600 pounds, making it suitable for heavy-duty industrial environments.
