Technical Description
The Mori Seiki NL2500SY/1250 is a horizontal slant-bed CNC turn-mill center from the NL Series in its long-bed 1250 mm type, with two spindles, a Y-axis and a 12-station turret with rotary tools; the second headstock replaces the tailstock and travels 1,284 mm on its B-axis. Swing over bed is 923.8 mm (36.4 in), swing over cross slide is 755 mm (29.7 in), maximum turning diameter is 366 mm (14.4 in) with 20 mm tool shanks or 356 mm (14.0 in) with 25 mm shanks, and maximum turning length is 1,298 mm (51.1 in). Spindle 1 has a JIS A2-8 nose, a 91 mm (3.6 in) through-hole, 80 mm (3.1 in) bar capacity and 140 mm front bearings, takes a 10-inch chuck and runs to 4,000 rpm on an 18.5/18.5/15 kW (24.7/24.7/20 HP) motor rated 25%ED/50%ED/continuous, with a 26 kW option. Spindle 2 has a JIS A2-5 nose and 43 mm through-hole (a 73 mm A2-6 version is optional) and runs to 6,000 rpm on an 11/7.5 kW (15/10 HP) motor. Rotary tools reach 6,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) motor. Travels are 260 mm in X, 1,345 mm in Z and 100 mm (plus or minus 50 mm) in Y, with 30 m/min rapid traverse in X, Z and B and 10 m/min in Y. The machine stands 2,232 mm (87.9 in) high on a 4,339 x 2,143 mm floor space and weighs 7,600 kg (16,720 lb). Programming is through the MAPPS IV operating system.
