Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 2500LSY is a long-bed horizontal CNC turning center with a Y axis, live tooling and a sub-spindle, from the PUMA 1500/2000/2500 Y series. It swings 600 mm (23.6 in) over the bed and 550 mm over the saddle, with a maximum turning diameter of 330 mm (13.0 in), a maximum turning length of 750 mm (29.5 in) and a bar capacity of 76 mm (3.0 in). The main spindle has an A2-8 nose, 130 mm front bearings and an 86 mm (3.4 in) through hole, and runs to 3,500 rpm on a 22 kW (30 hp) motor. The sub-spindle runs to 6,000 rpm on a 7.5 kW motor (11 kW optional), with a 45 mm through hole and 0.001 degree C-axis indexing. Travels are 250 mm in X, 830 mm in Z and 100 mm (plus/minus 50 mm) in Y; rapids are 20/24 m/min in X/Z and 7.5 m/min in Y. The 12-station turret takes 25 mm OD tools and 40 mm boring bars, indexes in 0.1 s and drives rotary tools at up to 5,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW motor. The control is a Fanuc 18i-T. The machine measures 3,440 x 1,775 mm with a height of 2,060 mm and weighs 5,400 kg (11,905 lb).
