Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 400MB is a heavy-duty two-axis-plus-C CNC turning center with a 12-station BMT75P live-tool turret. It is the mid-bore milling version of the PUMA 400 series, between the 400MA (A2-8) and 400MC (A1-15). The A2-11 spindle runs to 2,000 rpm through a two-speed gearbox and has a 132 mm (5.2 in) through hole; bar capacity is 117 mm (4.6 in). The spindle motor is rated 30 kW (40.2 hp) for 30 minutes and 22 kW continuous, and it also serves as the C-axis drive with 0.001-degree indexing. The standard chuck is 15 in. Swing over the bed is 770 mm (30.3 in); maximum turning diameter is 560 mm (22.0 in) and maximum turning length on the standard bed is 978 mm (38.5 in). X travel is 357 mm and Z travel is 1,105 mm, with rapid rates of 16 m/min in X and 20 m/min in Z. The headstock is Meehanite cast iron, and the spindle runs on double-row cylindrical roller bearings with duplex angular contact bearings. The tailstock has a 120 mm quill with an MT6 taper. The standard-bed machine is 4,582 x 2,440 mm, 2,292 mm tall and weighs 9,700 kg. The control is Doosan Fanuc i series, with Fanuc 32i-A listed as an alternative. The long-bed version is the PUMA 400LMB.
