Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 700M is a heavy-duty horizontal CNC turning center with live tooling, part of the PUMA 600/700/800 series built for large shafts and flanged parts. It has a 1030 mm (40.6 in) swing over the bed and 800 mm (31.5 in) swing over the saddle, a maximum turning diameter of 900 mm (35.4 in) and a maximum turning length of 1600 mm (63 in) in the standard bed length; L and XL versions extend this to 3200 mm and 5050 mm. The main spindle takes a 24-inch chuck on an A1-15 nose, with a 181 mm (7.1 in) through-hole and a 164 mm (6.5 in) bar capacity. It is driven by a 45/37 kW (60.3/49.6 hp, 30 min/continuous) motor, with an optional 75/60 kW winding, and runs to 1500 rpm with up to 6605 N·m of torque. The M version adds a C-axis with 0.001-degree indexing and a 12-station turret with rotary tools rated 11 kW at up to 3000 rpm. The turret holds 32 mm square OD tools and boring bars up to 80 mm. A programmable tailstock with a 160 mm quill and MT#6 taper is standard. X and Z rapid traverse rates are 12 and 16 m/min. The machine runs on a FANUC 32i control. The standard-bed machine measures 5760 x 3145 x 2780 mm and weighs about 16,500 kg (36,376 lb).
