Technical Description

The Doosan PUMA 700XL is a large 2-axis horizontal CNC turning center from the PUMA 600/700/800 series, in the extra-long-bed (XL) version. The 700 size uses a 24-inch chuck and an A1-15 spindle; the XL bed carries a tailstock over a 5,100 mm Z stroke. Swing over the bed is 1,140 mm (44.9 in), with 1,000 mm (39.4 in) over the saddle. Maximum turning diameter is 900 mm (35.4 in) and maximum turning length is 5,050 mm (198.8 in). Bar working capacity is 164 mm (6.5 in). The main spindle runs to 1,500 rpm with an A1-15 spindle nose and a 181 mm (7.1 in) through hole, driven by a 45/37 kW (60.3/49.6 hp, 30-minute/continuous) motor. Axis travels are 470 mm (18.5 in) in X and 5,100 mm (201 in) in Z, with rapid traverse of 12 m/min in X and 10 m/min in Z. The 12-station turret takes 32 x 32 mm OD tools and 80 mm boring bars and indexes in 0.25 seconds. The tailstock travels 4,885 mm with a 180 mm quill, 200 mm of quill travel and an MT#6 taper. The standard control is the FANUC 32i. The machine occupies 9,860 x 3,090 mm (388.2 x 121.7 in) with a height of 2,770 mm (109.1 in) and weighs 25,800 kg (56,879 lb).
