Technical Description

The 2015 Haas DM1 is a 3-axis drill/mill center manufactured by Haas Automation of Oxnard, California. The DM1 is engineered for high-speed drilling, tapping, and light milling operations in aluminum, steel, and engineering alloys, combining fast spindle acceleration with the rigidity of a full-size VMC in a compact, space-efficient machine. The machine provides X, Y, and Z travels of 20, 16, and 15.5 inches respectively, with a 26 x 15-inch worktable supporting up to 250 lbs. The CAT-40 inline direct-drive spindle operates to 10,000 RPM standard (12,000 and 15,000 RPM optional) with 15 HP vector drive, providing fast acceleration and strong cutting torque for drilling and tapping applications. An 18+1 side-mount automatic tool changer delivers tool-to-tool change times suited to high-cycle drill-and-tap production. Rapid traverse rates of 2,400 IPM in all axes minimize non-cutting time for high-density feature work. CNC motion control is provided by the Haas Next Generation Control (NGC), offering the full Haas programming environment including rigid tapping, canned cycles, and macro programming. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 80 x 100 x 98 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 5,200 lbs.
